Data Science B.A. (CDSS)

Required before transfer are Calculus I (Math 1A or 51), Calculus II (Math 1B or 52) and Linear Algebra (Math 54 or 56). Data C8, CS 61A and CS 61B are recommended but can be completed in the first semester. Source

CDSS requires the UC 7-course pattern and a minimum 3.0 UC-transferable GPA by the end of the fall term of application. Source

Since the Fall 2024 admitted class, transfers must select Data Science on the UC application to be admitted directly to the major. Source
Transfers who accept a Data Science offer cannot switch to or add the Computer Science major, though the CS minor is open. Source
CDSS does not admit undeclared students, and transfers admitted Fall 2024 or later cannot pursue a simultaneous degree or switch to Computer Science. Other changes within or into CDSS require comprehensive review. Source
