How to keep your UC transfer offer

A UC transfer offer is provisional until your final transcripts arrive. The UCSD Guardian reported that UC San Diego cancelled 5% of its transfer admissions in 2025, often over records that didn’t match.

Checked against official UC and campus sources in October 2026.

Overview

The usual conditions

  • A C or better in every course you listed as in progress or planned.
  • Good standing, a 2.0 or higher, in your last term.
  • Official transcripts from every college you attended by July 1.
  • Your Statement of Intent to Register by June 1.

Mistakes that cost offers

MistakeWhat UC says
A college left off the applicationEvery school must be listed. Omissions can be treated as falsification and cancel the application at every campus.
A D or F after admissionUC Merced says one D, F or No Pass in the year may make you ineligible. UCLA asks admitted transfers to report any D or F.
Dropping a listed courseReport it. Check your units, the 7-course pattern and major prep first.
A late transcriptTranscripts are due July 1. Allow time for your college to send them.

Questions

Can UC cancel a transfer admission?

Yes. Offers are conditional, and UC can withdraw one if a condition isn’t met or the record doesn’t match.

What should I do if I get a D after being admitted?

Report it to the campus right away. Decisions are made case by case.
