UC TAG requirements, side by side
Six UC campuses offer a Transfer Admission Guarantee to California community college students. You file one TAG per cycle, in September, and it guarantees admission to that campus and major if you meet its conditions.

What every TAG requires
- 30 UC-transferable semester units done when you file the TAG, 60 by the end of the spring before entry.
- One UC-transferable English and one math done by the fall you file; the rest of the 7-course pattern by spring.
- Your last school in a regular term must be a California community college, with 30+ semester units completed there.
- 2.0+ GPA in UC-transferable courses in your final year, with no grade below C.
Campuses without TAG
Berkeley, UCLA and San Diego don’t offer TAG. UCLA’s TAP and ADT pilot and San Diego’s UniversityLink give some students priority instead.
Questions
Which UC campuses offer TAG?
Davis, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz. Berkeley, UCLA and San Diego don’t.
Can I apply for more than one TAG?
No. You can file one TAG per cycle, though you can still apply to other campuses through regular review.
Does a TAG guarantee my major?
A TAG covers the campus and the major you file it for, and your UC application must list the same campus and major.
When is the TAG deadline?
September 1–30 of the year before you transfer. For fall 2027 entry the window closed September 30, 2026.
