Your odds at UCLA
Move the GPA and pick a major. The range uses UCLA’s published numbers and UCLA’s admit rate for each major.
No TAG at UCLA
UCLA doesn’t offer TAG. Two programs change how UCLA reviews you: the Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) for honors students, and the ADT pilot for students at ten partner colleges.
| Program | What it gives | Who qualifies |
|---|---|---|
| Transfer Alliance Program | Priority consideration for majors in the UCLA College, plus a second review under an alternate major, which other applicants don’t get. It is not a guarantee. | You must finish the honors or scholars program at a TAP member college. From May 2026, students who spend only one year in college can’t be certified, so fall 2027 applicants need two years of college by spring 2027. The TAP certification form is due in early March. |
| ADT pilot | Priority admission consideration at UCLA for finishing an approved Associate Degree for Transfer. No separate application. | A 3.5 GPA in the ADT major, two English composition courses and one quantitative reasoning course with a B or better by the end of fall, no more than 19 units in spring, and the same major on your UC application. UCLA can withdraw the offer if the ADT terms aren't met. |
Selective majors
UCLA publishes admit rates by school and by major. For fall 2025 the College (Letters and Science) admitted 27% of transfer applicants, Engineering 11%, Nursing 6.6%, the Arts and Architecture school 6.8%, and Theater, Film and Television 3.2%. Completing major preparation is a critical part of review.
Campus rules by major
| Major | Rule |
|---|---|
| Psychology | Psychology applicants must be admitted directly to the major. Switching in after admission isn’t an option. |
| Economics | Economics applicants must be admitted directly to the major. |
| All majors | Reviews you only for your first-choice major. UCLA TAP students may also be considered for an alternate. |
| All majorsEvery campus | Switching into a selective STEM major after admission is, in UC’s words, very slim. Apply to the major you want. |
