What you need
- Transfers apply through Cal Lutheran's own online application with no application fee. All documents, including the essay, one professor recommendation and official transcripts, are due by the deadline. Source
- Cal Lutheran requires a minimum 2.75 transferable GPA. Source
- Completing 30 transferable units is preferred but not required. Applicants with fewer than 30 transferable units must also send final high school transcripts. Source
- Applicants need college-level freshman English with a C or better. Intermediate Algebra is also required for admission but earns no credit. Source
- Students who fully complete IGETC or CSU GE-Breadth certification before transferring satisfy the main IDEAS general education requirements. The transfer page also lists Cal-GETC among its transfer agreements. Source
- Cal Lutheran accepts all transferable college-level coursework from regionally accredited schools and sets no maximum transfer credit limit. Graduation requires 124 semester units, with at least 40 upper division. Source
Scholarships and aid
- The Admission Merit Scholarship for transfers is worth up to $30,000, based on college GPA and number of transferable credits. Current Phi Theta Kappa members are considered for the highest transfer academic scholarship. Source
- The Transfer Achievement Scholarship is worth up to full tuition for transfers in the top tier of the applicant pool. Students who attend an on-campus interview compete for the top awards. Source
- The Public Price Promise awards $34,000 for 2026-27 to new transfers from a California college with a 3.5+ college GPA and at least 30 transferable credits. It is renewable at the same rate, and the page does not yet state the 2027-28 amount. Source
