What you need
- Transfers apply on the University of Utah application. The non-refundable fee is $55 for domestic undergraduates, and out-of-state applicants may get a waiver for documented financial hardship. Source
- Applicants with fewer than 30 transferable semester hours or 45 quarter hours must also send an official high school transcript. Utah lists no minimum credit requirement for transfer admission. Source
- Utah says undergraduate courses from out-of-state regionally accredited institutions will transfer. The admissions pages checked do not mention IGETC, Cal-GETC or California ADTs. Source
For California community college students
- California is on Utah's list of WUE states, so California community college transfers with a 3.50 transfer GPA and 30 or more credits can qualify for the Transfer WUE rate (terms shown are for Fall 2026 starters). Source
Cost and scholarships
- For students starting Fall 2026, the Transfer WUE rate charges no more than 150% of resident tuition to residents of WUE states including California. It requires a 3.50 cumulative transfer GPA and an associate degree or 30 or more credits at the time of application. Source
- Transfer WUE renews for up to four semesters with a 3.0 cumulative GPA, full-time enrollment and 24 credits per fall and spring. Beginning Fall 2026 it cannot be combined with other UOSFA merit awards and it does not cover differential tuition or fees. Source
- For Fall 2026 entry Utah lists a Transfer Utah Merit Scholarship for nonresidents with a February 1 priority admission application date. The page does not state the amount. Source
