Impaction at CSU Bakersfield
The CSU Local Admission and Service Areas list (updated September 2026, the current version during the Fall 2027 cycle) shows Bakersfield as not impacted for upper-division transfers, with the whole state of California as its local admission area. CSUB states that its Nursing program is impacted, and its regular filing window applies to non-impacted programs.
| Impacted major | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Nursing (Traditional BSN) | CSUB's transfer apply page states the Nursing program is impacted and sends applicants to the nursing website for criteria. For Fall 2027 a separate NursingCAS application runs October 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027. Lower-division applicants may not apply to Nursing. |
Local admission area
Because Bakersfield is not impacted for upper-division transfers, its local admission area is the entire state of California on the CSU list updated September 2026. The CSU lists Kern, Inyo and Mono counties, southern Tulare County and the Antelope Valley as the service area, which is used for outreach and does not change admission at a non-impacted campus.
ADT and the Transfer Success Pathway
The CSU Admission Handbook 2027-2028 states that community college students who earn an AA-T or AS-T and meet CSU minimum requirements are guaranteed admission with junior standing and priority consideration. Once admitted, they only need 60 more prescribed units. A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA applies.
CSUB participates in the Transfer Success Pathway, starting with agreements for Fall 2026 first-time community college students from August 1, 2026. Students must transfer within 3 years (2 years if also in Kern Promise or completing an ADT). Eligible programs are listed for the main campus and the Antelope Valley campus.
