What you need
- The transfer page's Apply Now link goes to USF's online application at apply.usfca.edu. The page does not say whether the Common App is also accepted. Source
- Transfer applicants must have completed at least 24 semester or 36 quarter units, or 30 semester or 45 quarter units for nursing majors. Source
- The minimum cumulative college GPA is 2.5, or 3.0 for engineering and 3.3 for nursing. Applicants also need a term GPA of 2.00 or higher in the most recent term completed. Source
- IGETC is not required for admission. A completed IGETC waives all USF Core Curriculum requirements except Public Speaking, Philosophy, Theology, Ethics, Community-Engaged Learning and Foreign Language if applicable. Source
- USF sets no limit on the total number of credits that can be transferred in. Courses must be university-level with a grade of C- or higher. Source
- Students must complete 44 semester units at USF to satisfy the minimum residency requirement. Source
Scholarships and aid
- USF automatically considers all transfer applicants for merit scholarships based on transfer GPA at the time of application. For Fall 2026 entry the awards were $20,000 per year for a 3.75+ GPA, $18,000 for 3.50 to 3.74, $16,000 for 3.20 to 3.49 and $14,000 for 2.90 to 3.19. Source
- The Community College Partnership Scholarship gives $4,000 in the first year and $6,000 in the second year to new transfers from 45 listed community colleges entering fall 2026 or later. It is applied automatically and added on top of other USF scholarships. Source
- The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship is $2,000 per year for up to 25 admitted PTK transfers per term in any major except nursing, renewable for up to three years. Source
- The Humanities Mellon Scholars Program gives community college transfers pursuing the humanities $10,000 per year for up to two years, with guaranteed paid internships and mentorship. Source
