What you need
- Transfer applicants submit Vanguard's online application at vanguard.edu/applynow or a PDF version and send official transcripts of all college work, per the 2026-27 catalog. The catalog states no minimum transfer GPA. Source
- California community college transfers should complete IGETC or the CSU General Education Breadth pattern, including a U.S. History or Government course, per the 2026-27 catalog. Completing either does not guarantee admission, and the catalog does not mention Cal-GETC. Source
- Students certified in IGETC or CSU GE Breadth on their transcript have Vanguard's general education core met except the theology requirement, per the registrar's transfer policy updated March 2023. AA and AS degrees are treated the same way. Source
- Vanguard accepts a maximum of 70 units from community colleges, and courses below a C- do not transfer, per the 2026-27 catalog. Source
- Transfers take fewer theology core units as their transferred units rise, with 12 units for 47 to 77 transferred units, 9 units for 78 to 93 and 6 units for 94 or more, per the 2026-27 catalog. Source
