Transferring to SF State
What San Francisco State University expects from community college transfers for fall 2027. The campus isn’t impacted for transfers, so most majors take every CSU-eligible applicant.

The SF State Bulletin 2026-2027 requires upper-division transfers to have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA in all transferable units attempted. For Fall 2027 the campus says only CSU minimum eligibility is needed for admission, apart from impacted Nursing.

The CSU 2027-2028 Impacted Programs Matrix (July 2026) lists San Francisco as not campus-impacted for first-time freshmen or upper-division transfers. Nursing is its only impacted program, so for Fall 2027 transfers outside Nursing the CSU minimum eligibility requirements apply.

SF State's impaction page gives a local preference in competitive admission. Applicants living in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo or Santa Clara County get an extra 0.10 added to their GPA. Nursing is the only impacted program listed, so this matters mainly for Nursing applicants.
ADT and the Transfer Success Pathway
SF State's impaction page says applicants who complete an ADT in a similar program get an extra 0.10 added to their GPA for competitive admission.
Dates for fall 2027
For fall 2027, applicants can start the Cal State Apply application on August 1, 2026, and can submit it starting October 1, 2026. The priority filing deadline is November 30, 2026. CSU says many campuses and majors still accept applications after the priority period.
