Impaction at CSU Channel Islands
The CSU Local Admission and Service Areas list (updated September 2026, the current version during the Fall 2027 cycle) shows Channel Islands as not impacted for upper-division transfers, with the whole state of California as its local admission area. Impaction at CSUCI applies at the program level, mainly the BS in Nursing.
| Impacted major | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Nursing (BSN, Track I generic pre-licensure, Camarillo) | The nursing department says impaction was granted by the CSU Chancellor's Office and applicants are ranked by an undisclosed supplemental criteria point system. Transfers need all 8 prerequisites with a C or better plus the TEAS, apply through NursingCAS, admit only for fall, and must list an alternate major. The page shows Fall 2025 cycle dates, so Fall 2027 details were not confirmed. |
Local admission area
Because Channel Islands is not impacted for upper-division transfers, its local admission area is the entire state of California on the CSU list updated September 2026. The CSU lists Ventura County, Malibu and the southern Santa Barbara County coast as the service area, which is used for outreach and does not change admission at a non-impacted campus.
ADT and the Transfer Success Pathway
The CSU Admission Handbook 2027-2028 states that community college students who earn an AA-T or AS-T and meet CSU minimum requirements are guaranteed admission with junior standing and priority consideration. Once admitted, they only need 60 more prescribed units. A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA applies.
All 22 CSU universities take part in the Transfer Success Pathway, but each university decides which programs are eligible. Nursing and programs that require a portfolio or audition may not be eligible.
