What Berkeley expects

  • Aerospace Engineering B.S.

    Courses to finish

The Aerospace Engineering program for junior transfers launched in Fall 2024 and defers to the College of Engineering junior transfer requirements. Source

Applicants must complete all lower-division courses required for the intended major as listed on ASSIST, including reading and composition, and should also take strongly recommended ASSIST courses offered at their college. Source

The 2026-27 program lists lower-division Math 51, 52, 53, Math 54 or Physics 89, Physics 7A and 7B, Engineering 7 or CS 61A, MatSci 45/45L, a science elective and R&C A and B. Its transfer plan schedules Engineering 7 or CS 61A, MatSci 45/45L, ME C85 and ME 40 or Engineering 40 at Berkeley. Source

    Selection

College of Engineering rules apply, with a minimum 3.5 UC-transferable GPA and 100 percent of the required core courses on ASSIST completed by the end of spring. Source

    Campus rule

A 3.5 minimum GPA by the end of the fall you apply. IGETC won’t prepare you for the major. Source

    Also note

Transfers wanting a fifth semester must contact their ESS adviser, and the 2026-27 transfer plan places AeroEng 100 capstone in the fifth semester. Source

The College of Engineering does not admit undeclared transfers, does not consider an alternate major, does not let transfers change majors after admission, and allows five semesters to graduate. Source

    Every Berkeley major

Every Berkeley college requires at least 60 semester (90 quarter) UC-transferable units by the end of the spring term before fall enrollment, and major preparation is listed on ASSIST and in the Berkeley Catalog. Source

UC’s shared course list

UC’s Aerospace engineering Transfer Pathway lists the courses that prepare you for this major at every campus, UC Berkeley included. Where Berkeley’s own list above asks for more, follow the campus.

This reads course titles. Whether a course counts at a campus is set by ASSIST, so confirm each one there.

No TAG at UC Berkeley

UC Berkeley doesn’t offer TAG, and no program guarantees transfer admission there. Every applicant goes through regular review, and each college sets its own GPA floor.
