What UCLA expects

  • Materials Engineering (B.S.) · Chemistry/Materials Science (B.S.)

    Courses to finish

Materials Engineering prep includes two English composition courses, calculus and analytic geometry, calculus of several variables, differential equations, linear algebra, calculus-based physics with labs, two terms of general chemistry with lab and one programming course in Java, C, C++ or MATLAB. Source

Chemistry/Materials Science in the College requires calculus through multivariable, linear algebra, a year of general chemistry with lab, one organic chemistry course with lab and one calculus-based physics course with lab. Source

    Selection

Engineering admission is highly selective and requires a minimum 3.4 GPA at the time of application. Source

    Also note

The selective flag and 3.4 GPA apply to Materials Engineering. Chemistry/Materials Science is not marked highly selective on the College list. Source

IGETC or UC Reciprocity is not required for Engineering majors and partial IGETC is not accepted. Engineering students may double major only with a second major outside the School of Engineering. Source

    Every UCLA major

Applicants should complete most or all major preparation, and it must be finished by the end of the spring term before transfer. Source

Only applicants certified through the Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) are reviewed for an alternate major. All other applicants are reviewed for their first-choice major only. Source
