What UCLA expects

  • Bioengineering (B.S.)

    Courses to finish

Prep includes two English composition courses, calculus and analytic geometry, calculus of several variables, differential equations, linear algebra, calculus-based physics with labs, one programming course in Java, C, C++ or MATLAB, one year of chemistry with lab and two terms of organic chemistry. Source

One year of biology with lab for the major (cellular, molecular and genetic) is strongly recommended for Bioengineering. Source

    Selection

Engineering admission is highly selective and requires a minimum 3.4 GPA at the time of application. Source

    Also note

IGETC or UC Reciprocity is not required for Engineering majors and partial IGETC is not accepted. Engineering students may double major only with a second major outside the School of Engineering. Source

    Every UCLA major

Applicants should complete most or all major preparation, and it must be finished by the end of the spring term before transfer. Source

Only applicants certified through the Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) are reviewed for an alternate major. All other applicants are reviewed for their first-choice major only. Source

No TAG at UCLA

UCLA doesn’t offer TAG. Two programs change how UCLA reviews you: the Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) for honors students, and the ADT pilot for students at ten partner colleges.
