Before you send

Keep the requested next step specific. After generating the email, use “Edit the wording” to match the tone of your conversation.

Check the names, dates and commitments. Copy the message into the conversation, open your email app, or keep an editable Word copy.

Follow up on a freelance web design proposal

Use this when you have already sent a website proposal and are waiting for a decision. Follow the review date you agreed with the client. If you did not agree on a date, leave them time to review, then send one short follow-up with the proposal date and one easy question.

For a small website redesign, remind the client what they are reviewing and let them ask about the scope or timing without pressure. Mention a start date only if you can still offer it.

Subject: [Website project] proposal — next step

Hi [Client name],

Have you had a chance to review the proposal I sent on [Proposal date] for [Website project]?

It covers [brief scope, such as redesigning five pages and a contact form]. If anything about the scope or timeline needs clarifying, tell me which part and I can help.

Would you like to move ahead, discuss a change, or leave this for now?

Thanks,
[Your name]
